Data Awards 15 minute 2d Artist of the year

It was quite the surprise on Thursday evening when they called my name to accept the 2010 artist of the year award.  There was a truck load of talent artists and designers there and It was great just to be invited, so winning was some serious icing!  The work will be up for a few months so be sure to stop in and check out a very interesting show.

TINKA kicks things off for 2010

This is the first painting of 2010, a commissioned work that I finished up last week for a co-worker I met while working on Unstoppable.  There are some underlying themes of blue collar life, gypsy sex workers and alien abduction which are the nuts and bolts of a grander narrative.  I really want to take these housing settings and throw my characters in them to create entire worlds or at least towns.  I will be putting some paintings up for the "Hollywood Night at the Harris" which is an event sponsored by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership on March 25th.  Hopefully I can debut at least one of these new works.  More on that event in the upcoming weeks.

One Great Evening

Friday nights' opening drew a really nice turnout. A ton of work sold, most of it was to the LA folks that I've been working with on the film "Unstoppable." I was finally able to debut a functional art table, something that I have wanted to do for some time now. Everyone seemed really into it, I think I will do half and half at my next show (half hanging art and half tables). Jeremy Beightol's work was a nice counterbalance to mine, we were really happy with the final curation. Now that the work is complete I am scrambling to get prints produced in the next few weeks. The website is getting a revamp and all purchases will be made through my new shop that is getting put in...can't wait to get things movin!

Relax mom, I do not worship the Devil

It's creeping up rather quickly! Panic mode has officially kicked in, although it all seems to be coming together. This December 4th will be the opening night for the Jesse Best & Jeremy Beightol exhibit at Modern Formations gallery. Should be one heck of a night...spirits will be drank, friends will be made. Hope you all can join us in the fun.
